Getting Candle Wax Out of Carpet

I have always heard about using a hair dryer and paper towels to get wax out of carpet, but I wasn't going to spill candle wax on the floor just to find out if it works.

Well, I finally got the chance when someone bumped my scentsy, resulting in red wax all over my beige carpet.  It was well dried before I started to attempt to get it off.

Here's what it originally looked like:

It was not pretty and it was deep into the carpet.  So I plugged in my hair dryer and sat on the floor with a roll of paper towels.  I applied direct heat to it on the hottest dryer setting.  Then I'd move the dryer for a second and blot it up with a paper towel.

It took a while and quite a few paper towels, but it eventually came up.
Here's what it looked like at the end:

It left some red behind, but that's the dye in the wax rather than the wax itself.  I think if I had more time and patience, I could have gotten more to come up, but for the most part, it looks pretty good.  When I stood up, I couldn't even see the stain.

I have also heard that you can use an iron and it will do the same thing, but I don't know what the best way to do that would be.  Has anyone done that?  How did it turn out?

Thanks for checking out my blog and I hope this has helped you to freak out less when someone spills wax on your carpet.

Ah, Pinterest

What is it about Pinterest that makes you think you can be supermom, a party planner, and an expert craft guru all at once?  It's pretty much wonderful.  I have found so many things on there that I definitely want to try.  The only one I actually have tried though is the Nutella Hot Chocolate.

Here's the recipe from Audrina's Vanity:

-------------------------------------------------------

My Life: Nutella is Love

My name is Audrina && this is my life.

One of my most favorite Fall/Winter drinks is hot chocolate. So, when I was at my friend Corrine's house on Sunday we decided to make some. She showed me how to make hot chocolate from Nutella. I loved it so much that I went to the store today and grabbed a bottle of Nutella and as I type this my Nutella hot chocolate that I made five minutes ago sits next to my laptop. You guys literally HAVE to try this, its so good!

Ingredients
  • 1 cup of Milk
  • 2 tablespoons of Nutella
  • Pinch of Cinnamon
  • Whipped Cream
  • Mini Marshmallows

Instructions
Pour about 1/4 of the milk into a saucepan on medium-low heat. Add the Nutella and whisk until blended. Slowly stir in the remaining milk. Add a pinch of cinnamon and whisk until hot and frothy. Carefully pour the mixture into a mug, add whipped cream, and mini marshmallows.

Well, did you make it?  Did you love it?  I wish there was a way to make it in the microwave, but I'm too afraid to try it.  I also used a little more than two tablespoons of Nutella, but it really depends on how chocolatey you want it.

That's it for now.  I'll be back soon to try this blogging thing once again.

First Post

Well, here we go.  I have always wanted to start a blog, but with no aim, I wasn't sure if I ever should.  So, if you find this incredibly dull, I apologize.

Since I'm getting married in about a month, I thought I could start with everything leading up to that.  I am super stressed out and I don't know how to fix that.  Mostly, I just want the wedding to get here so I can get on with the marriage.

A little about me:
I'm Veronica
My soon-to-be hubby is Matt
I really love to sew and do all the little crafty stuff
I want to learn how to cook (difficult in my tiny kitchen)
I want to eventually be a stay-at-home mom

That's about it.  Wow, maybe I'll get better at this blogging thing with time.  :)
